② Understand the Data Model
Learn about Logical Devices, Logical Nodes, Data Objects, and Data Attributes. Familiarise yourself with Common Data Classes (CDC).
③ Communication Services
Study ACSI (Part 7-2), then dive into the MMS mapping (Part 8-1) for client/server, and GOOSE for fast peer-to-peer messaging.
④ SCL Configuration Files
Learn the five SCL file types (SSD, ICD, IID, SCD, CID) and practice with OpenSCD or your vendor's engineering tool.
⑤ Sampled Values (9-2)
Understand how merging units publish digital current and voltage data, and how IEDs subscribe to Sampled Value streams.
